This position offers part-time hours during the school year for before and after school care and full-time hours during school breaks and summer care.

• Supervise and interact with children before and after school
• Plan and participate in age-appropriate activities, games, crafts, and recreational experiences

Gateway follows the school calendars for Anderson Community Schools and Anderson Preparatory Academy for our school-age programming.

This means your schedule will change throughout the year based on school schedules, including regular school days, delays, closings, holidays, and school breaks.

Job Description – Assistant Cook

Gateway Developmental Learning Center is looking for a dependable, enthusiastic Part-Time Assistant Cook to help prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the children we serve.

Our kitchen plays an important role in providing children with healthy meals in a safe, welcoming environment. The Assistant Cook will work alongside our Lead Cook to help with daily food preparation, meal service, cleaning, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks
• Follow menus, recipes, portion guidelines, and food safety procedures
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
• Wash dishes and clean kitchen equipment and work areas
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies
• Follow CACFP and Indiana child care food service requirements
• Work cooperatively with teachers and Lead Cook
• Help create a positive mealtime experience for children

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous food service or kitchen experience preferred
• Must be dependable, responsible, and able to work as part of a team
• Must be able to follow food safety and sanitation procedures
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks associated with kitchen work
